Artist and Restorer: Contemporary Art and Sacred Art

I am an art professional dedicated to preserving and creating beauty.
I am a talented artist and art restorer, with a deep expertise in painting contemporary and sacred art.

Since my adolescence, my painting has been based mainly on the search for geometric lines within which to enclose spots of colour that express the perfection and elegance of the forms, above which, from time to time, figurative images are placed.

After about 10 years of painting sacred art, influenced by the study of Greek and Byzantine icons, after a trip to New York, my artistic inspiration changed and became stronger and more incisive.

The geometry of the lines and shapes are more decisive, everything is in its place!

Explosions of triangles, spirals and squares, in an abstract decoration stand out and float in an unreal space so as to form a virtual image.

My technique is based on acrylic paint backgrounds sprayed on the canvas with a compressed air gun. For details I use brushes of various sizes, applying oil colors, enamel and industrial paints, gold and silver leaf and sand.

An extraordinary oxymoron of rarefaction-clotted is the canvas painted by the artist from Avezzano. After having assimilated with great sensitivity the lesson of historical abstractionism, he is able to offer a completely unusual version of abstraction in the neo-decorative sense; a pictorial solution in which “decoration” takes on a primary role of concrete meaning. “Decoration” as a concrete element becomes a co-protagonist in the abstract composition, not only thanks to an elegant play of emotional references but also by virtue of contrasting signs and surfaces. Straight and decisive lines that mark the space interact with vibrating sinusoids used to describe paths of memory and imagination. Smooth surfaces broken down into delicate nuances are compared with sectors of rough material pigment, often enhanced by gold. These unusual formal divergences compete for an original mental space before a real-pictorial one, creating “precious” works for technical and conceptual solutions. Sometimes even clearly figurative and solid elements emerge from the liquid geometry of the compositions, to satisfy a need for figuration expressed in a “pop” key: both in the definition of flat areas and clearly defined contours and in the choice of household objects. A form of “hard edge” in which the pictorial surfaces of the figurative details are treated as single uniform units, with a few chromatically distinct areas that tend to give the humble object the appearance of high-precision, geometric and impersonal mechanisms. This work has a mostly ironic character and, in a post-modern key, elements that are connect to design, to the anonymous coldness of mass-produced tools, to perfect and probably transgenic fruit, up to the use of pure geometric solids, all for a sort of object-based inexpressionism. Therefore, the rare iconic elements are presented with absolute rigor and mental coldness as if to decree an unlikely monumentality, for a sophisticated irony of everyday life. The artist thus manifests a detached, provocatively aristocratic way of working, in which planning, imagination and excellent technical ability determine a result of sure content and aesthetic value beyond fashion and any easy instinct.
